Bubble Phenomena and Bubble Properties for Horizontal and Vertical Carbon Anode Surfaces in Cryolite Melt Applying a See-Through Cell

چکیده
Gas bubble behavior on a carbon anode in cryolite melt has been studied using see-through cell. The phenomena have growth, coalescence, detachment, and wetting during electrolysis. surface orientation affects behavior. Therefore, two different designs were tested, an with horizontal downward-facing vertical surface. At the anode, it was found that one large formed by growth coalescence of smaller bubbles, finally, detached periodically. For surface, detaching bubbles smaller, most them had going through process prior to detachment. randomly. from initiation final shape at took about 0.016–0.024 s. current density did not affect duration coalescence. diameter decreasing increasing for both anodes. values range 7.2 5.7 mm interval 0.2–1.0 A cm?2 3.7 1.5 0.1–2.0 cm?2. contact angle stayed more or less constant increase density, which likely can be attributed size rather than polarization. In addition described properties found, impact results better design laboratory-scale studies is discussed.

Bubble growth in rhyolitic melt
We report experimental data of bubble growth in natural rhyolitic melt with 1.4^2.0 wt% initial total H2O at 0.1 MPa and 500^6003C. Growth of many bubbles is monitored in every experiment. Bubble growth rate increases with temperature and initial total H2O. At a given temperature and initial total H2O, bubble growth rate also increases slightly with bubble size. The average growth rate for bubb...
متن کاملpassivity in waiting for godot and endgame: a psychoanalytic reading
this study intends to investigate samuel beckett’s waiting for godot and endgame under the lacanian psychoanalysis. it begins by explaining the most important concepts of lacanian psychoanalysis. the beckettian characters are studied regarding their state of unconscious, and not the state of consciousness as is common in most beckett studies. according to lacan, language plays the sole role in ...
Triangular bubble spline surfaces
We present a new method for generating a [Formula: see text]-surface from a triangular network of compatible surface strips. The compatible surface strips are given by a network of polynomial curves with an associated implicitly defined surface, which fulfill certain compatibility conditions. Our construction is based on a new concept, called bubble patches, to represent the single surface patc...
متن کاملHomogeneous bubble nucleation in rhyolitic melt: Experiments and nonclassical theory
[1] The transfer of volatiles from the Earth’s interior to the atmosphere occurs through degassing of magma, the dynamics of which assert a significant control on volcanic eruptions. The first and most critical step in degassing is the nucleation of gas bubbles, which requires that a sufficient number of volatile molecules cluster together to overcome the free energy associated with the formati...
متن کاملInteractional effects of bubble size, particle size, and collector dosage on bubble loading in column flotation
The success of flotation operation depends upon the thriving interactions of chemical and physical variables. In this work, the effects of particle size, bubble size, and collector dosage on the bubble loading in a continuous flotation column were investigated. In other words, this work was mainly concerned with the evaluation of the true flotation response to the changes in the operating varia...
